I had my first class, an all day kickoff session for an online class, yesterday. The class is Adult Public Services, pretty standard stuff. I met some cool people and took a tour of the very unique Urbana Free Library: "holistic," they call themselves. I couldn't agree more - they are hippies. And so are most of my classmates, as it turns out. I guess I'm not surprised, librarianship is a pretty hippie-friendly profession.
Orientation also went down this weekend, on Friday. I feel really comfortable with the program and I already feel at ease with the people here; it's a very welcoming, appealing environment with a lot of cool classmates/faculty.
